The lighthouse keeper

Day 112 alone at the lighthouse. The supply boat came today — first human contact in three weeks. The captain asked if I was lonely. I told him I wasn't. That's mostly true. I have the sea and the birds and the light. Every evening I climb the 127 steps and switch it on and I know that somewhere out there, someone sees it and feels safer. That's enough meaning for one life.
